Kolaleh Eskandanian, PhD
As the vice president and chief innovation officer at Children’s National Hospital, Kolaleh Eskandanian spearheads the development of novel medical products, with a strong focus on translating pediatric innovations to benefit patients and families. She leads the hospital’s Innovation Ventures, the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation, and serves as the principal investigator of the FDA-funded Alliance for Pediatric Device Innovation. Additionally, Eskandanian is the principal investigator of the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority Accelerator Network Hub for Pediatrics and Special Populations, driving advancements in medical countermeasures for vulnerable populations. Under her leadership, eight medtech startup companies have successfully achieved exits through acquisition, underscoring her commitment to fostering impactful innovations in pediatric health care.
Eskandanian has played a critical leadership role in establishing the Children’s National Research and Innovation Campus, home to the Children’s National Research Institute; JLABS @ Washington, DC; and Virginia Tech’s pediatric research initiatives.
