T. Y. “Alvin” Liu, M.D. is an assistant professor of ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins University. He attended Phillips Exeter Academy, Cornell University (B.A.) and Columbia University (M.D.) He received his residency and fellowship training at Johns Hopkins University, and is subspecialty-trained in the medical and surgical treatment of vitreoretinal diseases. Dr. Liu’ s research iresearch interests center on the application of artificial intelligence in the screening, diagnosis, prognostication and treatment of ophthalmic diseases, with a specific focus on vitreoretinal diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. He also co-leads the administrative core for the Wilmer Artificial Intelligence Research Network.
