Dr. Paul Yi and Dr. Haris Sair are co-directors of RAIL, the Radiology and Artificial Intelligence Lab,  part of the JHU Malone Center for Engineering in Healthcare. The purpose of the RAIL lab is to use innovations in machine and deep learning to advance the field of radiology and improve doctor’s caseload. Dr. Paul Yi describes the concept of “transfer learning” that they use in the RAIL lab as “basically using algorithms that were used to train googles algorithms for image recognition, and then we apply that to radiology images.”
