Muyinatu “Bisi” Bell, a John C. Malone Associate Professor of electrical and computer engineering in the Whiting School of Engineering and the director of the Photoacoustic & Ultrasonic Systems Engineering Lab, has been recognized by the Franklin Institute with its 2025 Benjamin Franklin NextGen Award in Electrical Engineering.
Bell was selected for her innovative design of medical imaging systems that integrate ultrasound and light to enhance the safety and effectiveness of both robotic and non-robotic guided surgeries. Her pioneering research is pushing the boundaries of imaging technology, offering new solutions to improve surgical precision and patient outcomes.
Bell will be honored at an awards ceremony and dinner taking place on Thursday, May 1 in Philadelphia as part of the Franklin Institute’s Awards Week celebrations.
