Muyinatu A. Lediju Bell, John C. Malone Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been elected to the 2024 Fellow Class by Optica (formerly OSA), an organization dedicated to advancing optics and photonics worldwide. This award acknowledges her pioneering contributions to photoacoustic imaging techniques and their applications for surgical guidance.

Optica Fellows are selected based on their outstanding contributions to research, business, education, and engineering, and their dedicated service to Optica and the community. The selection process is highly competitive, with candidates recommended by the Fellow Members Committee and approved by the Awards Council and Board of Directors. Bell and the other 128 new Fellows will be honored at Optica conferences and events throughout the year.
