John C. Malone Associate Professor of Computer Science Suchi Saria was named to Business Insider’s 2024 AI Power List late last month. The list spotlights the 100 most influential people in artificial intelligence this year as selected by the news site.
Leading Insider’s business category, Saria was recognized for her role as the founder and CEO of AI startup Bayesian Health, her research on AI in health care at the Johns Hopkins University, and her part in establishing the Coalition for Health AI.
Saria’s research uses sophisticated computer science and the deluge of data available in health care and other settings to individualize patient care and to save lives. Her pioneering work centers on enabling new classes of diagnostic and treatment planning tools for health care—tools that use novel state-of-the-art AI techniques to tease out subtle information from “messy” observational datasets and provide reliable inferences for individualizing care decisions.
